Valsequillo

Valsequillo is a municipality west of Telde in the northern part of Gran Canaria, approx. 550 m above sea level.

The Valsequillo community celebrates some highlights each year. One of the most important is the patron saint San Miguel Archangel on September 29. For three days there is street theater, the traditional pilgrimage, a cattle fair and the folk festival of the Suelta del Perro Maldito (“Release the damned dog”).

The day of San Juan Bautista (John the Baptist) is also celebrated. In Tenteniguada, the traditional large bonfire is lit on the magical night of June 24th.

In Valle de San Roque, the streets are decorated with flags and fairy lights every year to celebrate the patron saint of San Roque on August 16.

Almond grow also plays an important role. That is why the popular almond blossom festival (Fiesta del Almendro en Flor) takes place in the first two weeks of February, with the focus on the blossom of the almond tree.
