Telde is a city in the east of the island and the second largest populated municipality, after Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and about 5 km from the coast. The neighboring municipalities are Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the north, Ingenio in the south, Valsequillo in the west and Santa Brígida in the northwest. Telde developed into an important city on the island and also benefited from its proximity to the capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
When visiting the historic center of Telde, a walk through the oldest district of San Juan is recommended. The most important civil and religious buildings are in the area of the Church of San Juan Bautista and the Plaza Mayor. The León y Castillo museum house and the San Francisco district with its narrow streets, low houses with gable roofs and long, limed facades also astonish many tourists. The tour of the historic old town finally ends in the San Gregorio district, where once the traders and artisans settled.
Today, Telde is still very popular as a place to live and here apartments and houses are predominantly built, some of them are for sale or rent. Various shopping centers, schools, supermarkets, restaurants and bars as well as the beaches can be reached in a few minutes. A popular place to live for locals and residents.
On the coast of Telde, cliffs and beautiful beaches (small bays) such as La Garita or Melenara alternate with fishing tradition with restaurants that offer fresh fish and seafood prepared like the local style.
