Fataga is a quiet place in the interior of Gran Canaria and belongs to the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, about 600 m above sea level. Between the touriststrongholds of Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles stretches a picturesque gorge called Barranco de Fataga, also known as the Valley of the Thousand Palms. The well-preserved, historic town centre, old narrow streets with natural stone pavement and many Canarian houses preserved in their original state between brown ruggedrocks, amidst a narrow band of greenery. The otherwise barren mountain slopes are adorned with pine groves. Restaurants, small shops, a gas station, shoppingpossibilities complete the picture. Fataga is particularly popular with English and Scandinavians who own real estate there. Generally there is still the possibility to rentor buy an apartment, house or a finca. A bus runs four times a day to the South and the North.
For many visitors, the small mountain village is one of the most beautiful on Gran Canaria.
