GRAN CANARIA is called a “miniature continent”. An island near Europe and Africa with beaches as diverse as its landscapes. With almost 60 kilometers of beach and 236 kilometers of coastline, under the soft sun that is a permanent guest here.

There are beaches of all kinds in Gran Canaria. For generations they have attracted tourists from all over the world and people who live here. There are bustling beaches and known as the long sandy tongue of Maspalomas. A huge line of yellow sand that stretches from Playa del Inglés at the foot of the great lighthouse of Maspalomas, after skirting a desert of dunes that extends along the south coast of the island.

But there are many other beaches in the south of the island. Quiet family beaches such as San Agustín and Amadores or the small beach of Puerto de Mogán. Or do you prefer the atmosphere of a traditional resort like Puerto Rico, one of the best in Spain?

In the south of Gran Canaria, there is a great variety of small beaches. Everyone can boast of the beautiful weather that prevails here practically all year round. Some are tourist and offer a variety of services and facilities. Others are shelters for lovers of seclusion.

The beaches in the north of the island are closer to this profile. There are small fishing slaves like Agaete, a refuge for all those who want to turn their backs on the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Even the capital of the island, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, does not need to hide its pride in the cosmopolitan beach of Las Canteras. A kilometer long urban beach that fills the city with bathers and surfers.

Gran Canaria offers its visitors all the guarantees and services that one would expect from a traditional complex: a destination that many thousands of Europeans return year after year. Do not you want to know a whole world of beaches that fight on this island? Come whenever you want. Here, the beautiful weather rarely pauses.

Culturally, the island of Gran Canaria is synonymous with mestizo, a characteristic derived from its historical role as a place of habitation for travelers, in addition, the population has always been open to people who came from the other side of the seas.

The past has left a legacy of archaeological, artistic, architectural and ethnographic value on the island, witnessing the cultural development of our island community. Historical heritage, related to the state of the island that has been enriched with numerous cultural and artistic manifestations and accompanied, in turn, give the island a uniqueness that are hard to find in such a small area.

Most of the sites to visit in monuments of Gran Canaria come from a time after the time of the conquest, although it could preserve some archaeological sites and areas of indigenous population of Gran Canaria (the cave paintings of the Cueva Pintada de Gáldar, the cenobio Cenobio de Valerón, etc.).

But in addition to the architectural and sculptural testimonies that belong to many historical and current moments of this island and are distributed throughout the territory, Gran Canaria has an extensive and varied calendar of cultural events that covers the whole year. Concerts, international music festivals and world cinema, exhibitions and conferences with world renowned speakers contribute, among other things, that the island itself entertain the most demanding public and can satisfy.

It is worth mentioning the internationally renowned Canary Islands Music Festival, which is celebrated at the beginning of the year and is the only festival in Europe that takes place during the winter. Almost all the great stars of the music world have already participated in the festival, and numerous world premieres have found their way here.
